The St John’s community gathered today to celebrate Harvest festive. A day in which we give thanks to God for the food he gives us, and for the farmers who raise the animals and crops we depend on. It is also a day to remember and pray for those who don’t have enough to eat, in our community and around the world.

In our service this morning gifts of food from the congregation were brought to the altar and blessed during the service. These will be donated to CFINE, a charity in our part of Scotland which povides food and support to those in need.

Following the service we enjoyed a shared lunch together including home-made cakes, sandwiches and a freshly baked, and very impressive, harvest loaf baked for us by Becca.
